5 Hard Truths about Jesus
by on June 2, 2013 in Faith

1) He called religious leaders who spoke lies names

Matthew 12:34 NLT
You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.

2) He didnt put blood relationships over spiritual relationships

Matthew 12:47-50 NLT

Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, and they want to speak to you.” Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”

Matthew 10:34-37 NLT
“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword. ‘I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Your enemies will be right in your own household!’ “If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.

3) He never said trusting Him would take away all your problems

John 16:33 NLT

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

4) He never said you had to unconditionally reconcile with unrepentant people

Matthew 18:17 NLT

If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector.

5) He didnt save everyone
Matthew 23:37 NLT

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.
