You were a light that created a beautiful optical illusion.
When I was thirsty in the desert, you were a mirage.
When I needed to dream , you were my fantasy.
But illusions, mirages and fantasies only distract from the reality.
That the distance between my heart and yours is more than just miles.
While you enjoy tasting my company and I yours, it is too infrequent to nourish the kind of love we deserve.
We can only cherish momentary memories of laughs and knowing smiles. Of shared experiences and comforting words.
Though I desire so deeply for this to be more, I know its only an illusion created by a handsome light.
