To the man I want to love
by on February 3, 2013 in Poetry Relationships

Dear Sweet Gentle Warrior,
You have made me feel things I have longed for all of my life. Accepted, appreciated, understood, and respected. You have the most beautiful spirit of any man I have ever met.

Your smile warms my heart, and has been the soothing balm to my broken soul.

I drink in your essence.

I hear your compassion.

I breath in your kindess, and exhale my pain.

But…..

no matter the chemistry we have, we are going in two very different directions. God did not ordain a woman to be the vision bearer for a relationship.

While you have touched my heart, you have made no  promises, so I will bestow no carnal gifts.

Illusions will only echo in my temple, once our union has passed.

“Oh Daughters of Jerusalem do not stir up love until it pleases.”

The ancient words of the Shulamite Woman hearken me to reason and lift the intoxication of this infatuation.

Thus while I want to love you as passionately as a first kiss, I will save my affection for the man who is willing to love me as Christ loves the church, and simply appreciate the frienship we have.

I adore you.

I appreciate you.

I needed you.

I Phileo You Eternally,

Charmaine
